Meet And Feed Reindeer
Interested in learning more about reindeer and life in the Arctic?
At Shaman Village in Rovaniemi, you’ll have the opportunity to meet these iconic northern animals in a calm and authentic environment. The village has a small reindeer enclosure with five reindeer, allowing visitors to see them up close and enjoy a relaxed moment with them.
Excursion Details:
The guided experience lasts approximately 30 minutes. During this time, you’ll feed the reindeer in the company of your guide, who will share fascinating facts about their lives in the Arctic wilderness, their behaviour, and the traditions of reindeer herding in Lapland. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how this ancient way of life continues in close connection with nature.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take memorable photos and enjoy a special moment with these gentle northern animals. After the guided session, you’re welcome to stay longer and enjoy the peaceful surroundings at your own pace. You can even try your hand at suopunki (the traditional Lappish lasso) and practise your throwing skills for a fun taste of traditional reindeer herding culture.
